Waggin Train Review

Purina randomly picked my dog and me to review some new treats. They're not requiring a blog review, but I wanted to share with you what Kamana thought.

They sent 3 full sized bags of treats; Jerky Duos, Smoky Jerky Snacks and Chicken Jerky Tenders. They will be in stores this month but you can read more about them here. They are 100% real with no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives.

The only one Kamana didn't care for was the Jerky Duos. He liked the scent and taste (he did eventually eat it), but he really didn't care for the texture. They are cased in an edible sausage casing, and for some reason, he didn't like the texture and almost refused to eat the treat. You can see his slight skepticism in the following photos.

He really enjoyed the other two kinds. He's had something similar to the Chicken Jerky before (I think we got it at Costco). I would say that one was his favorite because he had a hard time waiting for it!

I'm sure they'll be carried at most grocery stores. I know they've gotten a lot of bad press in the recent past and I'll be sure to keep an eye on him to make sure he's not lethargic or anything from these. He's had Waggin Train treats in the past and hasn't gotten sick, but I will still be cautious.

Note: I did ask customer service at Purina and this is what they had to say:

That's a great reason to chat with us today. The chicken for Jerky Duos and Smoky Jerky Snacks is sourced exclusively in the U.S. from a single, trusted chicken supplier, while the real white meat chicken for our Chicken Jerky Tenders, which are made in China, is sourced exclusively from a single, trusted chicken supplier that is part of a U.S.-based company.

So there's their answer in a nutshell. Just remember what your dog ate (in general) so if they do get sick from a treat or food, you can relay that information to your vet and file a report.
